Awakening Hope and Transformation Through True Relationship

The Why

Community of Grace is a mission-active Church. Our purpose is to:

  • Worship God with sincere expression.
  • Share the Good News of Jesus with others.
  • Connect with fellow believers in meaningful relationships.
  • Prepare disciples to fulfill their purpose.
  • Encourage leaders in their God-given destiny.

Mission work isn't just something we do — it's a part of who we are. Through our collective efforts, we strive to bring lasting change, hope, and the love of Jesus Christ.

HopeChest Vision: Igniting hope in the world.
HopeChest Mission: Inspired by Christ's love, Children’s HopeChest releases the potential existing within vulnerable communities, starting with children.

While Community of Grace actively supports missions within our community, throughout the country, as well as internationally, we believe we can do even more. We found a mission opportunity that brings people to Christ while empowering an entire community to achieve self-sufficiency through God-honoring transformation.

The What

Children’s HopeChest is a non-profit organization that connects U.S. communities to communities overseas with a high population of orphaned and impoverished children. Through these partnerships, they empower children and their communities to cultivate holistic transformation and sustainability.

The most profound and sustainable change occurs when one community partners with another.  A CarePoint is a safe gathering place for vulnerable children where critical resources are provided.  But the program goes beyond the basic needs and creates opportunities like:

- Vocational Training

- Expanding economic development through income-generating activities

- Promoting leadership initiatives

Through a CarePoint, local and international partners come together to work alongside community leaders to foster a development process that addresses every dimension of community life.

Community of Grace has committed to partnering with the Poaquil CarePoint in San Jose Poaquil, Chimaltenango, Guatemala.  San Jose Poaquil suffers from poverty and social challenges that leave children at risk. Yet there is hope. A local church, offering spiritual guidance, discipleship, and support to families. We will partner with this local faith leader to establish and support the CarePoint to equip the families of San Jose Poaquil to break free from the cycle of poverty.

The Poaquil CarePoint Vision and Mission allign with the purpose of Community of Grace to become change agents for Jesus.

Poaquil CarePoint Vision: To transform the lives of indigenous children in San Jose Poaquil through the Word of God, cultivating programs that bring lasting change.

Poaquil CarePoint Mission: To educate and inspire spiritual and economic growth through the Word of God, equipping children in San Jose Poaquil with practical skills, including learning Spanish and English to empower their journey toward lasting transformation.

This partnership allows us to:

  • Ensure children and youth receive a quality education.
  • Reduce childhood malnutrition through sustained food security initiatives, nutrition education, and access to health services.
  • Empower families to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
  • Strengthen Christian values and create disciples.
  • Establish a network of local partnerships with churches, businesses, and government entities, creating a foundation for on-going community development.

The How

This is more than just a sponsorship; it is a transformational relationship. Through this partnership, Community of Grace will live out our mission to spread the Gospel, build leaders, and affect our community both here and abroad.

Transformation takes faith, empowerment, and strategic investment. The families of San Jose Poaquil have the potential to break free from poverty and build a future filled with hope and dignity—but this requires resources, energy, and time.

A Community Development Plan has been designed to transition the Poaquil CarePoint to self-sufficiency over approximately 15 years. While it requires effort, the rewards are immeasurable. This partnership will glorify God, uplift orphaned and vulnerable children, and create lasting, positive change.

Unlike traditional sponsorship models, HopeChest Friends allows the child to choose their sponsor. If you decide to sponsor a child, they will select you from pictures they see and a connection they feel.

What it Takes to Sponsor a Child:

  • Financial Support
  • Personal Engagement
  • Church Commitment
